O A X A C A

NOVEMBER 8 - 13, 2024 | 6 days + 5 nights

JOIN THREAD CARAVAN AND NAIANA NAMI IN THE PICTURESQUE LANDSCAPES OF THE VALLES CENTRALES AND MIXTECA REGIONS OF OAXACA, MEXICO.

HERE WE WILL CONNECT WITH LOCAL FAMILIES PRACTICING GENERATIONS-OLD CRAFTS THAT HAVE EVOLVED OVER TIME IN CONGRUENCE WITH THE LANDSCAPE AND CULTURE: CERAMICS, NATURAL DYES, AND CANDLE-MAKING.

THIS CURATED GROUP EXPERIENCE ALSO INCLUDES VISITS TO CONTEMPORARY ARTIST STUDIOS, BOUTIQUE HOTEL ACCOMMODATION, AND DINNERS AT SOME OF THE MOST RENOWNED RESTAURANTS IN THE CITY.

Thread Caravan began in 2014; born from an idea to bring more awareness around artisan processes. We hosted our first weaving workshop in collaboration with Guatemalan weavers in 2015. To date, we have worked with over 10 artisan communities to host over 300 guests on over 40 craft workshops. Our intention is not to scale and grow rapidly, but rather to emphasize quality of relationships and craft experiences.

Thread Caravan hosts creative workshops around the world in collaboration with local craftspeople.

During each workshop, artisans offer all-levels instruction in their craft expertise: weaving, pottery, mezcal distillation and more. Our experiences emphasize materials, process, culture, environment and geography.

All workshop itineraries and details are coordinated in collaboration with local guides and artisan instructors.

The intention of these workshops is to facilitate cross-cultural exchange, connection, and understanding, and to nurture and promote handmade processes.

Each of our itineraries also includes experiences unique to each location: hiking volcanoes, visiting archaeological sites, markets and more.
